&TextStrings=The 10_Q test section. Exercise types and subtypes. |It is time to present the other main section of the program, which gives developers and users access to various types of interactive exercises and numerous useful features. As with the Presentation section, the learning process here should not be long or difficult. And when the goal is to motivate students with a new, multi-functional e-Learning tool, the efforts are justified.|Use the Items buttons to unfold the list!(excl)
 Matching (Match each item from Column 1 with an option from Column 2);
 ‘Put words/sentences/paragraphs in the right order’, a subtype of Matching;

 Multiple choice questions (with 2, 3, or 4 options);
 Multiple response questions (with 2, 3, or 4 options);
 True/False or True/False/Not given;
 Fill-in (with equal number of items and options);
 ‘Odd one out’ – a fill-in exercise with more options that items;
 Open-ended questions exercise with up to 3 correct answer variants;
 ‘Cloze test’ – a subtype of ‘Open-ended’, like a fill-in exercise without options;
 ‘Open the brackets’ – an ‘Open-ended’ exercise variant; you transform what is in the brackets;
 Free form test – a mixed-type exercise integrating PDFs and image files;
 Speaking tasks

&TextStrings=A 10_Q test. Exercise specifications.|The exercises of a 10_Q test are created in 2 steps: first, you set the specifications (specs), and then you input content. (For details, please see Part 1, Frame 20.) Click the ‘A’ button or press the A key and the program will advance through the slide show on its own until it reaches Frame 6. Use the same button or key to stop and start the slide show. The frames and unfold steps here are set to change after 8-10 seconds; to read the text at your own pace, go back and use manual control. &TextStrings=Exercise data input (1). Templates.|There are several methods of entering content. We’ll start with the exercise-specific templates. They have a user interface panel at the top and a display section underneath. The former accepts data and shows the current question and options. The latter provides an overall view of the exercise; text boxes are resized to fill the screen. You set the automatic answer key (Auto key) feature here, too.|All correct answers are entered as option ‘A’ on the data input template of a Multiple choice exercise. They are shuffled at test time in accordance with the answer key, which will be generated for you (the Auto key button is yellow, i.e. the feature is activated). Some text fields may not be large enough for the data they contain. Please see Frame 19 for a solution to this problem.|Go to Unfold, step 2, to see a Multiple choice exercise input template.|To ‘tell’ the program which option is the correct answer, or key:
  - enter it as option ‘A’ for multiple choice questions;
  - enter the key ‘in parallel’ with items for matching and fill-in exercises (option ‘A’ for item 1, option ‘B’ for item 2, etc.).
There are variations but full instructions are given in the program.|Go to the next frame for more data input methods.|

&TextStrings=Exercise data input (3). Editing a ‘.txt’ test file. |It was already said that your tests and presentation projects are saved as user readable and editable ‘.txt’ files. Therefore, you can edit a test, and even add or delete exercises by making changes directly to its file. Creating a 10_Q test ‘from scratch’ with a text editor would be hard but modifying existing files should not be a problem for more experienced users. |Editing the ‘.txt’ file of a test requires experience. See the example on the right. We have just ‘manually’ added Exercise 2. We have to change ‘2’ in the TestSpecs to ‘Ex2’ to make it accessible. We’ve also removed Exercise 3. If we don’t change ‘Ex3’ to ‘3’ in the TestSpecs, an error message (Problems loading Ex. 3) will appear on loading the test. Some other changes may need to be made, too.|Go to Unfold, step 2, to see the Specs section and one exercise in a ‘.txt’ test file.|Please note that a third-party text editor is not needed; the program provides the tools for the purpose. However, inappropriate changes to the ‘.txt’ file of a test or a presentation may cause the software to malfunction. To sum up, use any of the data input methods, or a combination of the three, as you find convenient.|Go to the next frame to learn about testing your project.|

&TextStrings=Testing exercises at ‘design stage’.|While working on a project, you should often check if ‘things go according to plan’. 10_Q facilitates the developer a lot in this respect. For presentations, design mode and slide show mode are a button click away. For tests, a button labelled ‘Do the exercise’ is present on every ‘input template’ page and will take you to a simulated test environment. |When testing an exercise, check how it reacts to user input, i.e. if correct and wrong responses are marked accordingly, so as to avoid inaccurate assessment. In this example, we are using check boxes and we have given 1 wrong answer (to question 4).|Go to Unfold, step 2, to see a simulated test page of a Multiple choice exercise.|If you find an error, click the ‘Input page’ button and you are in ‘Development mode’ again. The interface language of the whole exam section can be changed with a click on the ‘A~Z’ button. To make this possible, you need to translate the phrases and sentences in the file called ‘Glossary.txt’. Then, please provide it to your non-English speaking students who use 10_Q LITE, if requested.|

&TextStrings=Distance Learning and the 10_Q LITE program (1).|As a modern educational tool, 10_Q meets the requirement to support distance and blended learning. &TextStrings=Distance Learning and the 10_Q LITE program (2).|When it comes to distance learning and unsupervised testing, there are a number of issues you need to consider or explain to learners. For example, the methods of sending out and receiving files, the type of test activities, etc. Examining students outside the school premises raises concerns about possible attempts to cheat, and how valid the obtained results are. |Please go to the next frame for more information about 10_Q files and folders.|Encoding and decoding files are standard procedures when working with 10_Q LITE. To encrypt a test, you just click a button; decrypting a score file does not involve any efforts, either.
The program makes it difficult, but not impossible, to cheat in a test. The important thing is to try and establish relations with your students based on trust and respect!
|10_Q LITE employs a strategy to prevent easy access to the answer key of tests and a mechanism to monitor if score files have been manipulated or deleted. Encrypting and decrypting of ‘sensitive’ files is crucial in implementing these measures. |Please go to Unfold, step 2, for more information about 10_Q LITE.|

&TextStrings=Thanks and apologies.|You have reached the end of this slide show; thank you for your patience! The initial idea was for about a dozen frames only, entertaining rather than informative, only ‘scratching the surface’ of the 10_Q program. What came out is far from a complete manual but still a lengthy story, making the slide show look more like an e-book. Sorry! The larger volume was also the reason for choosing a simple frame layout and keeping it almost unchanged throughout. Apologies for that, too! Just a word in our defense: users of a new product do need sufficient and adequate guidance and support!|Thank you and good luck!||There is a collection of 30 tutorials on the website; you are kindly advised to download and use it, at least at the beginning.
For more details and instructions, please refer to the help sections in the program. There are quite a few of those, and to make it easier for you, some kind of index has been created. The data, organized in tables, is on several ‘.png’ images listed as content files in the ‘Demo test’. You can access these help pages from the test, or by clicking the ‘i’ (Info) button below.
